Mountainside Psychiatric Acute Care (PAC) is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services as a 14 bed Level I secured acute inpatient facility providing treatment for adults experiencing an acute exacerbation of a psychiatric condition.  This facility serves voluntary and involuntary adult patients from Pinal and Gila, Yuma and La Paz counties.  We serve voluntary Maricopa County patients through the admission single case agreements with other insurances.

Services fall within three basic programs; psychiatric acute care, involuntary evaluations and treatment and detoxification services.

The voluntary evaluation, treatment and stabilization program is designed for clients experiencing an acute exacerbation or new on-set that of a psychiatric condition that interferes with the ability to function.  The goal is to provide rapid stabilization and a return to the community/home.

The involuntary evaluation and treatment program provides individuals who are a danger to themselves or others a safe environment in which to begin the evaluation and treatment process.

The detoxification program meets with the criteria to be considered as a Level IV-D Medically Managed Intensive Inpatient Detoxification facility per the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).  All admissions are voluntary.

Within all three programs, the primary focus of treatment is crisis stabilization, medication management, milieu management and discharge planning.  Psycho-educational and therapy groups are provided by the RN, social worker, behavioral health technicians and/or behavioral health para-professionals under direct supervision of the Medical Director and Director of In-Patient Services.  Individual and family therapy is provided by the social worker on an as needed basis.  Patient education is conducted by nursing or social service staff in accordance with individual needs.  Discharge planning is coordinated by the social worker.
