Superstition Mountain Mental Health Center (SMMHC, Inc.) was started by a volunteer board of directors on July 1, 1986.  During the first year, the agency only had a handful of people and served primarily the community of Apache Junction.  Since then, SMMHC has grown to over 220 staff and provides services not only in Apache Junction, but, Oracle, Kearny, Superior, San Manuel, Queen Creek and other surrounding communities.

We were first accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) in 1996, and we continue to meet the standards required to achieve that accreditation.  In 2008 we received accreditation from CARF which shows SMMHC continued commitment to excellence.

Our goal is to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.  We do that through providing our clients the appropriate individualized services and by treating everyone with respect and dignity.
